We had 17 players in the September tournament, that put us one over the perfect 16 player bracket forcing 2 random players to fight for a spot in Round II. There were plenty of first-time players, who the odds always seem to favor over the regulars. The weather turned out to be really nice making the atmosphere out on the patio perfect for enthusiastic gamers. Age or gender makes no difference in this game so it came as no surprise that new-comer, Coco, beat the competition and put her name on the cup!

In this 12-player bracket, four random players got a bye in Round I, forcing the other eight players to fight for a spot in round II. The new patio at Prohibition is the perfect place to hang out and play Cock & Bull even after the sun goes down. The cooler weather required the portable heaters to be rolled out, but once in place the patio was quite cozy. Christine won three in a row to seal her victory and put her name on the cup.

We changed the tournament to Wednesday rather than Tuesday in the hope that more players would be able to attend. Tuesdays seemed to conflict with a lot of schedules and the numbers were dropping down. The first Wednesday tournament brought 20 players to the newly open outdoor patio at Prohibition. First-time player Cassandra won four games in a row to take home the cup!

St. Patty's Day was fun at Prohibition. The brewery opened up a newly added outdoor seating area that will be really nice come summertime. The SD County Firefighters Pipes & Drums serenaded us as well!

Unseasonably warm weather continued into February here in San Diego. As the rest of the nation was pummeled with wave after wave of snow and ice storms, local surfers were pummeled by wave after wave on our sunny beaches. We had a perfect 16-player bracket making for an exciting night at Prohibition. In the final round, Abby came from behind to knock out Marlon in a crazy final caught on the video above!

The first tournament of 2015 was a mighty slow night, we had just 7 players which made it necessary for me to join in as the much needed 8th player to make it an even bracket. The holidays just wore people out.

We had a record 23 people for the John Endris memorial tournament. That allowed 9 players to skip Round I with a bye. There were lots of first-time players and old friends reuniting for the occasion. Franchesca won her second tournament of the year and let Kathy engrave John's name on the cup.

November came with mild weather and gradual cooling, but still not a drop of rain for the thirsty California landscape. We had a decent showing of 14 players in the bracket for the tournament. This gave both Sandy and Franchesca a bye in the first round. But playing one less game than everyone else doesn't guarantee you a win in this game! Both players were immediately eliminated in round II along with Maggie and Josh. It was Andrea versus Anibal in the final round where Andrea prevailed once again and won the cup for her second time this year!

We had about half of the players in October than we did in September, but at least the scorching hot weather finally relented. In the beginning, we had 11 players in the bracket giving 5 people a bye in Round I. Then late comers, Maggie and Sydney, knocked that down to just 3 people with a bye. Little Grace was so thrilled to get her first tournament game win that she was bouncing in her seat. Maggie pulled off an amazing 6 (count 'em) SIX double monkeys in a single game vs Franchesca! But her daughter, Sydney, was an unstoppable force, taking down mom in the final.

The tournament bracket in September matched our July attendance record of 21 players at Prohibition Brewing in Vista. Once again we filled up four big tables in the back and the mirth and mayhem ensued right after 8 pm. The kid-friendly atmosphere means all ages can participate on an equal level, forget the babysitter and bring the family!

August was a particularly sweltering month in 2014, which hailed the beginning of the school year in San Diego. Various other player commitments led to a smaller turnout than usual, but short on players does not equal short on fun. Kudos to Francesca for fearlessly taking down her mom in the final round!

The tournament bracket continued to grow in July at Prohibition Brewing. We had 21 players, another new attendance record for the Vista event. There were six kids entered who could all hold their own against the adults and showed no signs of weakness or mercy. Presley made it all the way to the final round before being taken out by Charlie!

Wow, we were able to fill up a perfect 16-player tournament bracket on just the second time around at Prohibition! Thanks to the kid-friendly environment, all ages can participate at the restaurant / brewery making it a lot easier to find players. Also, all entries received a collectible Prohibition Cock & Bull game piece to go with their games! This time, two first-time players ended up in the final round, Andrea and Drew, but luck was with Andrea who emerged victorious. Congrats!

The inaugural tournament at Prohibition kicked-off with Cock & Bull Cup V, which takes its name from the fifth month of the year. We were all a little worried the prior week as a wildfire raged within raining ember distance of the brewery. Thankfully unscathed, Prohibition had a welcoming atmosphere, cold brew, hot food and perfect tables for gaming. Congratulations go to Helen for eliminating Kathy in a very close and exciting final!
